The skateboard rides on

Ever since my two year old son showed an interest in one of my old skateboards, things have not been the same around here.  I have three old decks that date back to the late 70's and recently I brought them all back to life for us to enjoy.  It has been a blast skating again and it is like time stands still every time I hop aboard.  My neighbors look at me and scratch their heads in disbelief as I pull 360's in the driveway with Felix looking on cheering my efforts.  It is only natural at this point that I would point my camera at somebody with some real skills on the board.  This is John Toohey who I met today, he is Portland High School student and talented skater. There are a lot of great young athletes in this town and like most of them entry to a sport starts at home with a talented parent athlete sharing their passion.  John's dad used to skate and taught John a thing or two and now John rocks the paved world on an old school Dog Town Deck.  It was a pleasure to meet and photograph John on the Maine State Pier with a backdrop of beautiful clouds and blue sky.  Stay tuned as there will be more skate pictures down the road.
