Clint Chase Boatbuilder

On the coldest day of the year so far, -11 this morning, I met up with boatbuilder Clint Chase in his Portland shop to create an environmental portrait.  I had crossed paths with Clint last summer at the Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors show. He was doing a demo that showed off his fine boat building skills.  I made a mental note to track him down in Portland when I had some time in my schedule.  We chatted last week and this morning got to work.  He recently moved into his new larger shop on Fox Street and is quite busy getting ready for the Portland Boat Builders Show and taking care of customer orders for his custom boat kits.  During the shoot we connected and made plans for the warmer months to shoot some of his boats in the waters off of Portland.  Stay tuned for more of Clint and his sail and open water rowboats
